Viska invests in CCP's AAA game built on blockchains

We are delighted to announce that Viska, a cryptocurrency fund, is one of the few entities that had the opportunity to invest in the new blockchain project of the video game developer CCP.

CCP hardly needs an introduction to Icelanders, as it is one of the world's most successful video game developers. CCP is the producer of the popular video game EVE Online, a so-called MMO game (Massively Multiplayer Online game), first released in 2003.

CCP announced yesterday that the company had secured $40 million in funding to develop a new video game (known as a Seed round). The game's financing is led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), one of the largest investors in innovative technology companies over the past decade. It is an excellent recognition for Viska to invest alongside one of the world's leading venture capitalists in this project.

The new video game will combine CCP's 25 years of game design experience and the latest in blockchain technology to create new and exciting things for the game's players. The game will also exist within the EVE universe.

No further details can be shared at this point, but more information will be made public in the coming months. The limited information about the project can be found here: https://www.projectawakening.io

Seeing a grassroots technology company like CCP recognize the value of integrating blockchain technology into its development is genuinely positive. This project will attract significant attention worldwide since this is the first time a leading global video game producer plans to utilize blockchain technology in this way in their video game.

The news on CCP's website about the matter can be read here.

Andreessen Horowitz discussed the firm's investment in the project, which can be read here.
